Zanshin Dojo was the first school of Gracie "Brazilian" Jiu-Jitsu in middle Tennessee with classes commencing in 1994. The school was a founding member of the Rickson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Association with whom they are affiliated today. Many of the students have gone on to become world-class competitors and instructors. The school focuses on the highest quality jiu-jitsu technique with applications for self-defense and tournament competition. Classes include intensive conditioning and for those who are interested, Russian kettlebell training.

Eric Silver, head instructor of Zanshin Dojo started his martial arts training in 1971. He has trained in Wado-Ryu Karate and Jiu-Jitsu in the US, Brazil, Japan and Europe. Today he is one of the senior instructors with the Rickson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Association as well as a 6th degree black-belt in Wado-Ryu karate. In addition to his extensive training with the legendary Rickson Gracie, Mr. Silver has trained with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu luminaries, Royler Gracie, Fabio Gurgel, Marcelo Garcia and Saulo Ribeiro.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes at Zanshin Dojo are open to men, women and children. No previous experience is required and beginners can start at any time. Uniforms are not provided but may purchased through the school. Visitors are always welcome.

"Eric Silver's teaching style is excellent. He breaks down each move and explains why it must be done that way... If you want to learn real Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, this is a great place to train."
